Koh Lipe, known as the "Maldives of Thailand," is a tropical paradise in SatunProvince, surrounded by turquoise waters, coral reefs, and white sandy beaches. Traveling to this stunning island requires a bit of planning, but the journey itself can be an adventure.
The fastest way to begin your journey to Koh Lipe is by flying into Hat Yai International Airport (HDY) or Langkawi International Airport (LGK), depending on where you're coming from.
Hat Yai International Airport: This is the closest major airport on the mainland of Thailand. After landing in Hat Yai, you'll need to take a taxi or minivan to Pak Bara Pier (about 1.5 hours) from there, you can catch a ferry or speedboat to Koh Lipe.
Langkawi International Airport: If you're flying from Malaysia, Langkawi is a convenient entry point. The airport, head to Telaga Harbour or Kuah Jetty and take a ferry directly to Koh Lipe (about 1.5 hours).
Once you’ve reached either Pak Bara Pier or Langkawi, the most common and scenic way to reach Koh Lipe is by ferry or speedboat.
